Admins

WHMCS allows you to create admins to access and use the Admin Area.

The Admin Area

The Admin Area is the portal that admins access when they work within WHMCS. The WHMCS Admin Area has over 125 interface or feature pages, each often containing multiple sub-interfaces.

Security Questions

Security questions add an extra level of security for users. During password resets, the system uses them to verify the user's identity.

Admin Tools

Admins have access to a personal calendar, to-do list, and notepad.

Notifications

WHMCS integrates with popular team communication apps, including Slack® and HipChat™, to allow WHMCS to notify you in real time as events occur.

My Account

From any page in the Admin Area, the currently-logged-in admin can quickly access and change their account and security settings.

Accept an Admin Invitation

Organizations can send invitations to staff members, allowing them to create admin accounts. When you receive your invitation, you will have seven days to use it to create your username and password. Then, you can log in to the Admin Area to start working in WHMCS.

Add an Admin

Add an admin account for each of your staff members. You can choose to set their credentials for the new admin or you can send an invitation link.

Configure an Admin Avatar

Add a custom Gravatar to display for your admin account in the Admin Dashboard's Staff Online widget and in the Accounts menu.

Disable Admin Notifications

Reconfigure administrator role permissions to stop the system from sending system email notifications to that role's assigned admins.

Disable an Admin

Disable an admin on your WHMCS installation. This prevents them from logging in to the Admin Area and removes them from report output.

Edit an Admin

Edit an existing admin. You can change their admin roles, permissions, and assigned departments.

Log In to the Admin Area

Log in to use WHMCS's many Admin Area interfaces and features and to manage system configuration, billing, support tickets, and more.

Resend an Admin Invite

Admin invites expire after seven days. If a new admin has not clicked the invitation link to set a username and password before the link expires, you can resend it.

Reset an Admin Password

If an admin forgets their password, you can reset it using the link on the Admin Area login page or by changing it in the database.

Enable 2FA for Admins

Configure two-factor authentication (2FA) for Admin Area logins. 2FA enhances security by adding a second step to the login process.

Log In Without a Backup Code

You can restore access to the Admin Area or Client Area after the loss of a two-factor authentication (2FA) device and backup code.

Log In Without a Token

If users or admins lose their two-factor authentication (2FA) device, they can regain access to WHMCS using their 2FA backup code.
