Problem #

You see the following error when you attempt to create a new theme using the Theme Editor addon module:

The system could not create the theme.

Cause #

This error occurs because you attempted to create a theme with a name that already exists or contains invalid characters.

Theme names must be unique and can only contain alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores.

Troubleshooting #

To diagnose this issue:

1. Go to Addons > Theme Editor.
2. Review the Theme Management menu to check for existing themes with the same name.
3. Verify that Theme File Name contains only alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores.
4. Check that the theme name and theme file name do not match any existing theme names in the system.

Solution #

To resolve this issue:

• Make certain that your desired theme file name only contains alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores.
• Make certain that the theme name does not match any existing themes in the Theme Management menu.
