2FA Storage Migration Messages

Problem

You see one of the following messages at Configuration () > System Settings > Two Factor Authentication:

Secure your Two-Factor Authentication storage. Click the "Begin Migration" below to get started. Migration will continue in background.
Two-Factor Authentication is being migrated to a secure storage format. When the migration is complete, this message will disappear.

You may also see a Two-Factor Authentication Storage Check warning at Configuration () > System Health.

Cause

WHMCS detected that one or more users or admins has Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled, but your 2FA storage is not encrypted.

For more information, see Two-Factor Authentication Storage Check.

Solution

To migrate your 2FA storage to an encrypted format:

  1. Go to Configuration () > System Settings > Two Factor Authentication.
  2. Click Begin Migration.

The migration runs in the background, and the in-progress message disappears automatically when it completes.
