Manually Renew a Domain

You can manually renew domains with your chosen domain registrar.

Manually Renew a Domain

To manually renew a domain with a registrar:

  1. Go to the desired domain in the client’s profile’s Domains tab.
  2. Click Renew under Registrar Commands.
    • The system will immediately send a renewal request to the domain registrar.
    • If the request succeeds, the expiry date will update.
  3. If you are handling payment for the renewal manually, increment the Next Due Date value for the domain.

Stop Automatic Renewal Requests

If the system has already generated an invoice for the domain and Automatic Renewal on Payment is enabled, the system will send another domain renewal request to the registrar when the client pays the invoice.

To stop this second renewal request, reissue the invoice without the line item for the domain:

  1. Go to the desired domain in the client’s profile’s Domains tab.
  2. Click View Invoices to find the domain renewal invoice.
  3. Duplicate the invoice. The system will create a copy in the Draft status.
  4. Edit the new Draft invoice. Delete the domain’s line item, then add a new line item with the same description and amount. Because the new line item does not include a link to the domain, paying the invoice will not send the automatic renewal request.
  5. Publish the new invoice.
  6. Cancel the original invoice.
Invoices become immutable after they leave the Draft status, so you cannot edit the original invoice directly. For more information, see Reissue an Invoice.
