Problem #

You see the following message in the WHMCS Admin Area:

Invoice immutability is disabled. We strongly recommend updating your workflows to eliminate the need to edit non-Draft invoices.

You may also see an Invoice Immutability warning at Configuration () > System Health.

Cause #

You selected a compliance state that disables invoice immutability (allows invoice editing) for non-Draft invoices in the Invoice Immutability setting in the Invoices tab at Configuration () > System Settings > General Settings.

Solution #

We strongly recommend updating your business’s workflows to eliminate the need to edit non-Draft invoices. Instead, use credit and debit notes to adjust invoice balances and reissue invoices to correct invoice details such as the invoice date or tax rate.

After you adapt your workflows, you can go to the Invoices tab at Configuration () > System Settings > General Settings and select Full compliance (immutability enforced, billing notes generated) to resolve the Admin Area message and System Health warning.
