MX and SPF Record Errors

Problem

While provisioning OX App Suite for a domain on a cPanel, DirectAdmin, or Plesk server, WHMCS attempts to update the domain’s MX records and write an SPF record. The Activity Log at Configuration () > System Logs shows a message in the following format:

<Module>: Error attempting to provision MX/SPF Record Changes: <message>

For example, for a Plesk server, you might see the following message:

Plesk: Error attempting to provision MX/SPF Record Changes: The subscription for the domain 'example.com' does not exist in the panel. Contact your service provider.

WHMCS still provisions OX App Suite and sends the welcome email with manual MX configuration instructions.

Cause

WHMCS cannot resolve the domain to an account or subscription on the service’s configured server. This typically happens because:

  • The domain does not exist as an account or subscription on the target server.
  • The service points at the wrong server.

Solution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Log in to the server configured for the affected service.
  2. Confirm the domain exists as an account (cPanel & WHM or DirectAdmin) or subscription (Plesk) on that server.
  3. If the domain is missing, add it on that server, or update the hosting service in WHMCS to point to the server that already has the account or subscription.
