BitPay Token Errors

Problem

You see one of the following errors at Billing > Gateway Log while using the BitPay payment gateway module:

Token Rejected: Verify that Test Mode matches the token environment.
POS Facade Required: The token must be a POS-Facade token.
Gateway Not Configured: The system could not find the POS token.
Gateway Not Configured: You must add a POS token to your BitPay payment gateway configuration.
Configuration Error: The system detected a configuration error.

Cause

Each error indicates a different problem with the POS Token value in your BitPay gateway configuration:

  • Token Rejected — The token doesn’t match your Test Mode setting. A live token can’t authenticate while Test Mode is enabled, and a testnet token can’t authenticate while it’s disabled.
  • POS Facade Required — The token isn’t a point-of-sale token, so BitPay rejects it for this integration.
  • Gateway Not Configured — The POS Token value is empty.
  • Configuration Error — BitPay rejected the token for a reason other than the ones above.

Solution

To resolve these errors, generate a new POS token and update your BitPay gateway configuration:

  1. Log in to BitPay.
  2. Go to Payment Tools > API Tokens.
  3. Create a new API token and uncheck Require Authentication.
  4. Copy the generated POS token.
  5. Go to Configuration () > System Settings > Payment Gateways.
  6. Find the BitPay module.
  7. Paste the token into POS Token.
  8. Click Save Changes.
For setup steps, see BitPay.
