The Nominet module allows you to register and manage domains with Nominet.

This module does not support automatic inbound transfers for the restricted .sch.uk extension.

  • Domains that use this extension do not have the expiry dates that automatic inbound transfers require.
  • After the registrar validates the IPS tag change for an inbound .sch.uk transfer, you must manually update the domain status to Active.

Activation

To activate and use the Nominet registrar module:

  1. Log in to the WHMCS Admin Area.
  2. Go to Configuration () > System Settings > Domain Registrars.
  3. Find Nominet in the list.
  4. Click Activate.
  5. Enter your Nominet credentials.
  6. Click Save Changes.
  7. Open a ticket with Nominet to request access to use your Nominet account via EPP using your server’s IP address.
    • You can find the IP address in WHMCS at Help () > License Information.
    • If you don’t do this, you will see a Error Connecting to message.

Test Mode

You can use test mode to simulate domain registration and management function without registering a domain or incurring charges. This can be useful to test WHMCS configurations.

Automatic Registration

WHMCS allows you to set up automatic domain registration on a per-extension basis, enabling you to use different registrars for different TLDs.

Automatic Domain Synchronization

This module supports automatic domain synchronization for syncing expiry dates and status changes for incoming transfers.

To use this, enable Domain Sync Enabled and configure the domain sync task at Configuration () > System Settings > Automation Settings.

Troubleshooting

Unable to find the socket transport “ssl”

This error indicates that SSL communication support is missing from the PHP build on your server. Recompile PHP with OpenSSL.

Command syntax error

Nominet has specific requirements for client data formats. This error usually indicates a problem with client details in the Profile or Contacts tabs of the client’s profile. Make certain that the postcode and phone number use the correct formats.

Error Connecting to ssl://epp.nominet.org.uk on port 700

This error indicates that either a firewall rule is blocking connections on port 700 or that you have not authorized your server’s IP address to access your Nominet account.
