9.0 Release Highlights
WHMCS 9.0 introduces a new Nexus cart experience, AI Domain Namespinning, CSV support for ImportAssist, and credit and debit notes.
Nexus Cart Experience
We have added a new shopping cart with improved UI for your clients. The new Nexus cart is dynamic, so clients can see changes without refreshing the page. This makes it easier for your clients to view new items in their cart, add promo codes, and recalculate taxes without leaving the page.
AI Domain Namespinning
WHMCS Namespinning now includes AI-powered domain name suggestions. When clients purchase a domain, they can use a keyword or description to search for the best domain name. Clients can also still search for an exact domain name.

CSV Support for ImportAssist
We have added support for CSV files with ImportAssist. You can use CSV files to simplify how you import customer data into WHMCS.
Credit and Debit Notes
WHMCS 9.0 ensures complete audit trails, tax law compliance, and financial record integrity by using credit and debit notes to maintain a complete record of all invoice adjustments while preserving the original invoice.

Credit and debit notes are commercial documents that adjust the amounts on issued invoices:
- Credit notes reduce or eliminate an invoice balance. Businesses use credit notes to document refunds, price adjustments, returns, or corrections after they issue an invoice.
- Debit notes increase an invoice balance. Businesses use debit notes to document additional charges like late fees or underbilling corrections.
In WHMCS, the system creates credit and debit notes automatically when you perform actions that would have previously reduced or increased an invoice amount. These notes maintain a complete audit trail of all invoice adjustments, making it easier to comply with tax regulations and maintain accurate financial records.
Invoice Immutability
Starting with WHMCS 9.0, invoices are immutable after you publish them (when they leave Draft status). You cannot directly edit published invoices. Instead, WHMCS automatically creates credit and debit notes to document any changes.
Adapting Your Workflow
If your business’s workflows rely on directly editing non-Draft invoices, you will need to adapt them.
For example:
- Late Fee Removal After Extension — Cancel the invoice (creating a credit note) and create a new invoice without the late fee.
- Price Adjustment After Invoice Issuance — Reissue the invoice with the correct pricing.
- Adding Forgotten Line Items — Reissue the invoice with all desired items, or create a separate invoice for the forgotten item.
- Removing Cancelled Services — The system automatically creates a credit note for cancelled service line items.
Coming Soon: AI Support Copilot Addon Module
We will soon begin a Technology Preview for our upcoming AI Support Copilot addon module. This addon module will help your support staff handle tickets by creating AI-generated response suggestions for interacting with your customers. It will also help you remove Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from responses.
To express interest and request a license when the preview begins, contact WHMCS Technical Support.
The full release of this addon module is coming in 2026.
Updating to WHMCS 9.0
To take advantage of these changes, you need to update to WHMCS 9.0. We recommend making sure your customizations are up-to-date for the new version and checking the compatibility of any third-party modules you use.
