New Version Not Appearing

When you check for new updates at Utilities > Update WHMCS, no new version appears, but there is a recent new release.

If you see an error message here or at Configuration () > System Logs, see Check for Updates Failures.

If the check does not display an available update but your WHMCS version is not the most recent release, there are several possible causes:

  • Your Update Channel settings are excluding the new version.
  • The server does not meet the minimum requirements for the new version.
This often indicates an incompatible PHP version.

The Automatic Updater utility checks whether your current server environment meets the system requirements for the next available version for your configured Update Channel setting.

To resolve this issue, you must ensure that your Update Channel setting is correct and your system meets all of the version’s requirements, including using the correct PHP version.

Incorrect Update Channel

Check the Update Channel setting at Utilities > Update WHMCS to ensure that you are using the correct channel. We recommend Stable.

If your system does not use the correct Update Channel setting, update it and then check for updates again.

For steps to update your Update Channel setting, see Set the Update Channel.

System Requirements Not Met

To ensure that your installation is compatible with the system requirements for newer versions, review the system requirements and release notes for the desired version and any intermediate versions to find the necessary changes.

  1. Make certain that you have updated your server to a compatible PHP version. If your PHP version is incorrect, update to the correct version.
  2. Check to ensure that your server environment meets all of our system requirements.
  3. Go to or refresh Utilities > Update WHMCS.
  4. Click Check Now. The new version will appear.
  5. Click Update Now to start the update process.
